New Paragraph

'Kad es saku tavu vārdu, es tevi atceros/ When I speak your name,

I remember you' was made in memory of the 603 people from the Cēsis town and former Cēsis District in Latvia who died in deportation and resistance during Soviet and Nazi occupations, particularly

 from 1941 to 1957.

Originally installed in an ex KGB courtyard in Cēsis , the spoken names of 603 local people who died in deportation and resistance, are broadcast randomly over two speakers.

In order for this work to be realised, 150-200 local people made the recordings of the names during October 2019. These included Cēsis youth council, schools, choir, military students, general public and relatives of those who died during the deportations of 1941 and 1949.

The work was made in conjunction with Sirdsapziņas ugunskurs/Burning Conscience, Rucka Artists Residency and with the support of Culture Ireland.

Peaceful Protest Cali Dec 4th 2019

Lithographic Prints 2021 (270mm x 225cm)

Peaceful Protest Cali Dec 4th 2019 is a series of prints made from drawings related to a national strict protest I attended while on residency in Cali Colombia in 2019. They relate to series of sound works made from field recordings I made on the day. I revisited my documentation of the Cali protest in 2021 as the reporting of events in Cali by Irish and British newspapers was at odds with my experience of the pro-democracy/pro-change national strikes.
